CREATIVE EDITOR EXPLAINED

Creative Editor Explained

Tips for using the Creative Editor

  • It’s best to write or copy your content first and then format it to your liking.
  • If you want to include multiple items next to each other i.e. a logo and title in your header, you have to insert a table defining the number of rows and column you’d like and then add each item into a cell.
  • To delete a column or row, right click, select cell, and delete cell
  • When inserting an image, be sure to make the Border = 0. This way you won’t see any outline on the image. Unless of course you want a border around your image.
  • To ensure that all your links are being properly tracked, you must use the link tool in the toolbar. Otherwise, you may not be able to view clicks by link in your reporting.
  • If you are sending both HTML + plain text versions, be sure to make all your edits in the HTML Editor window first, then convert to plain text
  • Resize your images to what you want them to look like in the email before you upload them to the editor. Some email clients (i.e. Outlook 2007/2010) strip out the width and height attributes, which ends up displaying the image in it’s original size.
  • Make sure any image that you upload does not have any spaces in the file name. Some email clients interpret the space differently and can strip it out.

Creative Editor How-To Guide

Edit a template: To edit an area, hover the mouse over the area - an "edit"" button will appear in the top left corner. To edit anything within the highlighted area, simply click the button. When you are finished, hover over the left hand corner again and a "close" button will appear. To exit out of an area and edit a new area, simply click the "close" button.

Insert link: Type out the word, phrase, or sentence you want linked. Then highlight the word, phrase, or sentence you want to make linkable, and select the link button in your toolbar. Enter the address in the URL box and hit okay.

Remove link: To remove a link, highlight the link and right click (or control + click for Mac mice). Select "Unlink".

Insert image from My Files: To insert an image, place your cursor in the area you would like to add the image. Select the image button in your toolbar. If your image is located remotely, you can enter the location of the image in the URL box. If you want to upload an image, select the "Browse My Files" button within the Image Info box. Here you can access your previously uploaded files or upload new images. Double click on the image you need and select OK.

To link an image, double click on the image in the editor. Click the "Link" tab from the menu and enter the URL you want to link to. Hit OK. To remove a link from an image, select the image and right click (or control + click for Mac mice). Select "Unlink".

Remove Format: Highlight the area you want to remove formatting. Select the "Remove Format" button in the toolbar. Using this function will remove the current format of the highlighted portion and default to the formatting of the cell above.

See source code: This is where you can find the HTML code for your template. Unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing, there is no need to view this code. You can make all the changes to your template that you need on the editor.

Convert to Plain Text: Click on the orange Convert to Plain Text button located right under the HTML editor. Please note that this will copy the text in the HTML version to the plain text version of your email only - not the other way around. So, if you want to make any copy changes, please do so in the HTML version first and then convert to Plain Text.

Undo and Redo: Expand the toolbar by hitting the "show all" button on the far left. You will now see a back facing arrow and front facing arrow. These serve as your "undo" and "redo" buttons.

Personalize your template: Use the personalization button to insert first name, last name or email. Plain text emails will not show personalization, so make sure that you delete the personalization in the plain text version and change it to something general (such as "Dear friend,").

Insert a social media button: : Click on the area where you would like the button to be located. Hit the "insert social media" button. Enter the web address for the link (for example, http://www.facebook.com/companyname) and select the social media icon you would like to use.
